Heswall Primary School opened on its current site as a junior school in 1976. Built on the site of the old Beehive Dairy, our school has amazing grounds with wooded and grassed areas for the children to use and explore. The school still uses the Bee as a logo and the wraparound club is known as Beehive.
The infants remained on our old site – The Puddydale, until 1982 when the school was once again unified in one building.
At the time, the school had an open plan set up which remained in place until 2025 when the last open plan classrooms were finally renovated after 49 years. Our school now boasts modern classrooms for all children from the age of 2 to 11 years.
Heswall Primary has always been a special place known for its ability to balance excellent teaching alongside children’s happiness and wellbeing. Our children achieve well and thrive in our single form entry school.
In 2024, the school opened a Resourced Provision Classroom (Honeycomb Class) catering for 8 pupils with complex learning difficulties. This built upon the school’s long standing inclusive reputation for supporting children and their families with special educational needs and disabilities.
Heswall continues to go from strength to strength and this has been assisted by joining the Oak Trees Multi Academy Trust in 2024. The trust has enabled the school to continue to move forward with excellent support and additional funding for a brand new roof and upgrade to our Key Stage One classes.
Heswall Primary School is well known for its eco-work and the staff and pupils are strongly committed to doing what’s right for our local environment. The school has won a number of awards for its eco work over a long period of time including two prestigious Educate Awards. Heswall has also won both regional and national awards for its eco-work and have worked with some celebrities including Dermot O’Leary who has visited our school in person.
